What values are important to you? Empathy? Kindness? Courage? Curiosity? Resilience?
One way to consciously teach important core values to your children is to ask questions at home when you're having dinner, or just before you are putting your children to bed.
You could ask questions like:
What made you curious today?
When were you courageous?
How were you kind this week?
How did you use empathy today?
Discuss a time you got upset, but then you were able to bounce back from it quickly.
There are so many more that we could continue with, however the most important thing to remember is to be able to share with your children when we have lived the value ourselves AND model it for them!
So let me put it to you...
When you think about your life recently, when have you used empathy in a challenging situation?
Please feel free to share and show your kids how inspirational you can be!
